Jo Winfield coached me at Blenheim Horse Trials in 2003. She worked with me in the build up to the dressage test with Secret Papers. He is not an easy horse to prepare and her overview and perceptive comments allowed me to produce a much improved performance.
Jo also more recently trained and supported me with my preparation towards my BHS Instructor’s exam which I passed in 2007.

I have known Jo for over 10 years, we first met through a local riding club and when my horse was coming back into work after an injury I contacted her for much needed assistance, which was most successful and we went on from strength to strength. Jo competed and qualified my horse for unaffiliated dressage and won the Novice Championships at Hartpury College. At Jo’s suggestion my horse was offered on loan for the RDA European Para dressage at Hartpury College in 1997 to New Zealand for a Grade III rider and in 1998 to Germany for a Grade IV rider and was eventually sold to a friend and colleague of this rider (Anna Greta Schriker) and he is now living in Bremen, Germany.
When looking for a replacement horse I recruited Jo’s help and found an ex-racehorse called Scherzo and together Jo and this small but special horse went on to qualify twice for the British Dressage Novice Winter Championships and accumulated some 123 dressage points, came 7th at Hickstead Search for a Star Retrained Racehorse and then 4th at HOYS Search for a Star Riding Horse. Scherzo is now at Moulton College in their Dressage Academy.
The successor to Scherzo is an AES horse called Tut Moses who has some £1,200 on his card BSJA and jumps Foxhunter courses which Jo is enjoying. It is so nice to have a relationship with an instructor like Jo who is willing to go that extra mile both for you and the horse.
In all my changes of horses the most important thing has always been first and foremost finding the right horse for me who I can school, hack and take to competitions with very little fuss due to my health problems and on all occasions Jo has been there for me and I have never been afraid of recommending her to anyone.
